The Tale of Ursa Minor and Ursa Major

"Dain, I'll tell you a secret story about why you need to go to bed early tonight," Dad began affectionately.

"Why, Dad?" Dain looked at Dad with curious eyes.

"As you can see, tonight the moon isn't rising, so it's very dark. But on nights like this, the stars in the Ursa Minor and Ursa Major constellations sparkle especially bright. Actually, those stars have a special mission."

"What mission?" Dain asked, her eyes twinkling.

"At midnight, all the baby bear dolls in the world wake up and set out to find their mommy bear dolls. So tonight, we need to go to bed early too, so we don't disturb the baby bears on their journey to find their mommy bears."

"What happens when the baby bears find their mommy bears?" Dain asked again.

"When the baby bears find their mommy bears, they cry tears of joy mixed with sadness. Those tears rise up to the sky and make the stars in the Ursa Minor and Ursa Major shine even brighter. So those stars sparkle more at night."

"What happens to the baby bears who can't find their mommy bears?" Dain asked cautiously.

"The baby bears who can't find their mommy bears fall back into a deep sleep. They wait in their dreams until the next time the stars shine, dreaming of being with their mommy bears. So tonight, we go to bed early so those baby bears can meet again."

Dain listened to Dad's story and felt warm inside. She hugged her baby bear doll tightly and went to bed. "I hope the baby bears find their mommy bears happily in the night sky," Dain whispered as she fell asleep. Dad quietly left the room, looking up at the night sky. On that night when the stars twinkled, everything was peaceful and beautiful.
